Each program is built around what a child can do next.
1 to 2 AND 2 - 3 YEAR OLD
The toddler room is a gentle step from home to school. Children stay with the same small group and the same adults, so the day starts to feel predictable. They work with their hands, choose their own activity, and learn at their own pace. Teachers prepare the room so each child can discover and explore without being hurried.
3 to 5 YEARS OLD
In the Nursery and Pre-k room, three to five year olds work with hands-on materials at their own pace. Teachers prepare the room so each child can choose an activity and stay with it. Learning is individualized, and children discover and explore with growing independence. This is where the school's approach takes shape.
Kindergarten is part of the programs developed for children one year old through fourth grade. In this room, five year olds learn through personalized education and hands-on learning. They work at their own pace, choosing materials and following their interests. The aim is to prepare students for success in school and in life.
Elementary children work with self-directed, hands-on and collaborative learning. That can mean a long project carried across several days, or a piece of work done alongside a classmate. Teachers follow the child rather than a single script. Montessori Elementary serves grades one through four.
The music program is meant to give students a well-rounded musical foundation, and it is designed to exceed PA State Standards. Children are immersed in music twice a week. They learn how to read music, and they are introduced to instruments. Singing and rhymes also carry oral language through the younger rooms.
Nursery/PreK-Elementary
Spanish runs once a week for Nursery, Pre-K and Elementary children. It is taught by Miss G. The class is a regular part of the week rather than an occasional extra, so children hear the language and use it again the following week. Families can ask how the lessons are grouped by age.
Kindergarten & Elementary
Gym meets once a week for Kindergarten and Elementary children with Coach P. Children work on body coordination and teamwork, which at this age means practice — taking turns, moving together, and learning how their own body works. It rounds out the week alongside music and Spanish.
Kindergarten and Elementary school age children
LEGO Robotics is an after-school enrichment program for Kindergarten and Elementary school age children. Students work with the LEGO Education We Do Construction Set. They build LEGO models, attach them to the LEGO USB Hub, and then control the models using computer programs. It is a newer addition to the after-school offerings.
